New Study Shows Two-Thirds of the General Public Wants Presumed 50/50 Custody

There’s a new article on www.Shrink4Men.com that discusses a recent University of Arizona study that shows two-thirds of the general public wants presumed 50/50 custody to be the law and believes high-conflict parents should have less custody time. Public opinion currently runs counter to what is practiced in U.S. family courts. Research supports the public’s beliefs on custody. When will family court begin fair practices desired by the public and supported by research?

It’s mostly a matter of $$. Like any tort reform the people who have to instigate the reform are the very ones who benefit the most from not reforming the system – namely the lawyers. Judges and most politicians were lawyers once and it’s not in their interest to cause their brothers in the profession to lose a lucrative source of income. So expect sanity to come to the divorce process about the same time a NPD admits she has a problem. Those of us who take responsibility for our lives are very annoying to those who refuse to do so. Therefore, justice will not prevail in our system and the husband will almost always get a raw deal in any divorce involving custody of children.
